Perhaps contrary to what a denim enthusiast might expect when buying a pair of jeans – the idea of wearing them daily to develop a unique, worn-in appearance – at Redcast, we offer an alternative for those seeking quality selvedge jeans that don't require months of wear to achieve that desired look. Our solution is perfect for those who appreciate quality selvedge denim without the patience for extended wear.
Crafted from lightweight indigo selvedge denim woven by Kuroki Mills, the CT-101x stands out with its remarkable blue color achieved through a distinctive washing process. Unlike typical stonewashed jeans, which can sometimes look artificial, 3sixteen took a different approach to preserve the fabric's inherent character. They avoided common distressing techniques like sanding, laser treatments, or harsh chemicals. Instead, their focus was on enhancing the denim's natural vertical streaking that develops over time. The result is an effect that regular wear alone couldn't replicate. Through a close collaboration with a Los Angeles wash house, 3sixteen developed a multi-stage process involving pumice stone washing, light bleaching, and softeners to achieve the perfect shade of blue. These jeans offer a distinctive look that defies conventional aging.
They feature a Classic Tapered cut with a mid-high rise, room in the top block, and a taper from the knee down, making them suitable for both summer and year-round wear.
Please note that this model tends to run slightly big, so we recommend going 1-2 sizes down. However, as always, we suggest taking a look at our size chart for the perfect fit.
Founded in LA by Johan Lam and Andrew Chen over a decade ago, 3sixteen's philosophy is evident in pieces they've developed since 2008: shirts, jackets, basics and accessories all take cues in form and function from their jeans. Fabrics and trims are always chosen for their capacity to develop character with time. 3sixteen aim is that, with diligent wear, the customers are rewarded with something well-aged, never "old."
